Thanks to all who contributed towards a successful event on June 8th at the Church of the Good Shepherd. In the background is the Caldwell Colt Memorial Parish House, which is sited in the outfield of the original Hartford Base Ball Grounds.

Elizabeth Colt and Coltsville's Contribution to America's Pastime

In the years following the Civil War, Elizabeth Jarvis Colt—widow of legendary arms inventor Samuel Colt—had emerged as one Hartford’s most influential civic leaders. Already heavily involved in the business of the Colt Firearms Manufacturing plant, she also was an art patron, charitable entrepreneur, philanthropist and is responsible for some of the most handsome architectural structures in the city.

On June 8, 2013, find out what role she played in Hartford's base ball history as we commemorate the original Hartford Base Ball Grounds with a base ball garden. (More)

Teams of the Coltsville Vintage Base Ball League return to Colt Meadows on June 15, 2013 when The Alert Fire Hose Company face The Nutmeg BBC. First game begins at 11:00am. Full season schedule here.
